USPA NEWS - The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced on Monday the holding of legislative elections on July 23. After the socialist debacle in the local and regional elections held on Sunday May 28, the Spanish Prime Minister decided to advance the legislative elections in an attempt to stop the flight of socialist votes to other political options. In a public appearance, Sánchez assured that he "assumes" responsibility for what happened in the local and regional elections.

USPA NEWS - The conservative Popular Party won the local and regional elections held this Sunday in Spain. 8,000 city councils and 12 regional parliaments were elected, paying special attention to some regions where the results seemed to point the way to the legislative elections to be held next November. Among them, Madrid, where the candidate of the Popular Party and current president of the regional government, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, achieved an absolute majority; as in the capital, where the current mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, revalidated his mandate.
